This sleigh from Østenå in Kviteseid was made by Karl Rui in 1798. The sleigh is built for a woman with the initials DOD.

Karl worked as a log driver for the Aall family. He was also a sergeant in the military, but he is best known as a fiddle player. Karl Rui is the first fiddle player we know from Telemark. He made many good fiddles, the “Karlsfelene”, which were very popular.
