Fire truck

(TGM-BM.1969:093)
A fire engine pump is a tool used to extinguish fires. This is a hand-operated pump. The water is drawn into a cylinder using a piston. The water is then pushed out through the water hose, which is directed at the flames. This pump has been used in the Solum fire brigade, and it was probably acquired in the 1880s.

The fire engine pump is mounted on a trolley which was pulled by firefighters to the scene of the fire. Fire hoses are mounted on a coiler with two side wheels at the back of the pump. On each side, a horizontal pump handle is mounted on a strong hoop. There were many pumps of this type both in rural and urban areas, but they were not very effective.
