Cultural Heritage along the Telemark Canal

Telemark Museum invites you to three of the region’s outstanding cultural attractions: Brekkeparken, the Henrik Ibsen Museum, and Ulefos Hovedgaard.

At Brekkeparken and Ulefos Hovedgaard, you can explore the history of Niels Aall, cabinet minister, and his family, who played key roles in Norway’s industrial, social, and cultural history. In Skien, you can also learn more about the world-renowned playwright Henrik Ibsen. In 2028, an entirely new museum dedicated to Ibsen will open at Venstøp, his childhood home. In the meantime (2026 and 2027), we offer, among other experiences, guided city walks in Ibsen’s hometown.

The museums are beautifully located along the canal and are easily accessible, whether you arrive by boat or by road.
