There has been a lot of construction going on at Venstøp this summer. Here are some glimpses of the work.
We are renewing the museum in the barn. Inside there will be a new and modern museum, but from the outside the barn will look the same as before.
The summer of 2025 has been hectic. The entrepreneur of the barn is Consto AS. They have dug out and prepared for a new technical room to be placed under the parking lot by the barn’s end wall.
Inside the main house of Henrik Ibsen’s childhood home, our craftworkers work with traditional Norwegian techniques to restore the house as it was when Henrik Ibsen lived there. In July we found a spot of asbestos behind a firewall. The parlour was fully closed off, and the asbestos was securely removed.
The ground around the main house has been dug up to make sure of good drainage and a good infrastructure. In the kitchen we finally have a functional fireplace and chimney.
