Illustrator and artist Per Ragnar Møkleby and Telemark Museum invite adults to a drawing day at the museum.

“Drawing is seeing” was Betty Edwards’ famous mantra in her drawing book. To draw something, you have to concentrate on seeing. Carefully. It may take time, but it gives you a completely different experience than taking a quick photo with your mobile phone. An experience that more and more people see the value of. It is precisely the experience that matters most, not the result, so don’t be afraid to join in even if you are “not very good at drawing”. Drawing is more important than the drawing itself.

You must bring your own drawing equipment: Sketchbook or sketch pad. You can draw with whatever you want, such as a pencil, watercolors, pen, or colored pencils. A tip is to use a brush with a water container, such as “Koi”, that you can buy at places like Panduro. This prevents spills of water.

Program for the day:

Per Ragnar Møkleby talks about urban sketching, thoughts on drawing museums, sketching a place in a sketchbook, and tips on composition and examples from other works.

Then everyone draws and looks over each other’s shoulders.

There is time for coffee and lunch. Coffee is free. Bring your own lunch.

We finish our drawings and look at each other’s work.
