The department is responsible for maintaining over 112 buildings, 101 of which are antique and 24 are protected. The building preservation has six employees who keep the museum’s buildings in good condition.

Bjørn was the project manager for the new building in Brekkeparken. He has previously led several projects at the Telemark Museum, including the construction and establishment of the DuVerden Maritime Museum and Science Center in Porsgrunn.

Bjørn holds a Master’s degree in creative writing and has written and published several books. He has also served as the cultural director.
